Rachel from Londonderry

What a wonderful connection to make. My grandmother and Rachel's great-grandmother were sisters.

Being on the other side of the globe keeping in contact with family is always a tenuous business. Dad left Londonderry when he was about sixteen and didn't return apart from a short holidays after he had retired forty years later. But through photos and Mum's careful recording of our family tree the links are still there.
Today we met for the very first time Rachel who is travelling New Zealand having a wonderful time with her two mates Kathryn and Louise, also from Ireland. They are bright interesting girls who speak in an accent that I love. We were touched by the similarities between Rachel and our Amy.

What a great way to start the New Year! What lovely photos and memories you will all have to treasure, and stories Rachel will tell when she arrives home. Love to everyone.
