A Stunning Sunset

I took the long way home tonight so I could better see this stunning sunset across the bay. Haven Road was lined with people taking photos. I only had my school camera with me- I would have loved to have had my big camera and tripod!

Rachel takes the plunge

Before leaving New Zealand for Western Australia Rachel took the plunge- she says she's hooked on skydiving!!! It's the guy hanging on to the window that intrigues me as well. He is horizontal. She looks like she is having fun?????

A Chance in a Billion

I'll tell you an impressive family thing happened today. I got a cell phone call from our Amy asking the guessing game of- guess who I've just seen?

It transpired that she was walking down the street in Wellington- our capital city and walked past a pair of girls who looked familiar. She did a double take and turned back and the girls were looking at her.

At Christmas Rachel- Amy's great-grandmother's great-grand-daughter came to visit from Londonderry, then she had gone down south to work on the glaciers for a while. Amy was in Australia at that time so they couldn't meet. I had put some photos of Rachel's visit on my blog and of course Amy had seen them. I would have liked them to meet but their paths were never going to cross.

They met today totally randomly on a street in Wellington on the day before Rachel was due to fly out of the country to continue on her OE. How incredible that they had met AND recognised each other only from my blog photos.

Personally being somewhat non-neuro-typical- more down the path on the autistic spectrum- out of context I can barely recognise people that I teach with every day let alone great-grandmother's great-grand-daughters, born on opposite sides of the globe and never met before.

I am in awe of the probability of that happening. If they had been walking in the same direction their eyes would never have met. Ten seconds either way and they would never have seen each other. The power of blogging and family connections through generations and across the globe.

Too much time on my hands

This is what you get when the school holidays are on and you have more time to play! I should get out in the sunshine now and go and do something useful!

A Blog Post From Flock

I made this blog post inside Flock which is a rather cool web browser. The idea is that you can just drag your photos from Flickr straight into the Blogger page without having to go to a particular web site. I am thinking of changing over to Flock but will have to wait until you can import all your settings and bookmarks and the like from Mozilla after start-up. I am sounding a bit like a computer geek but I'm proud of it!

I would like to be able to centre the image though. I will have to remember a little more html to do be able to do that! The photo by the way is of a class party we had on the last day of school this term to celebrate our class blog having 5000 hits or looks snce we started recording them about August last year. They are a nice bunch of kids!
