A Sunny Autumn Sunday

The fog from last night lifted to reveal a lovely day. We wasted some of the world's oil resources by going for a drive looking for the ginko trees in full autumn colour. It just happened that we ended up down at the marina restaurant at lunchtime. What a coincidence was that!!!!!

Go the Crusaders!

We were kindly invited by our friends across the road, George and Margaret, to watch the final of the Super 14 live on Sky! The game was one out of the box with fog so thick you couldn't see the far side of the paddock and when the ball was kicked high who knows where it was going to come down or who was trying to catch it. The Crusaders won in the end though. The Hurricanes di well to get to the final and a Kiwi team won so it was all good!

Family Roundup

We have had a family night tonight with an hour long Skype call with Mandy and a visit from Mac showing us the photo of Aunty Bern with the Vincent's new puppy.

It was so good to hear from Mandy and know that she is starting the road to recovery. Her voice sounded strong and it was great to hear it. She sent a couple of photos of Karl showing his volleyball skills.

White Tailed Spider Bite

I have had the most excruciating pain in my right armpit for the last two weeks. I went to the doctor last weekend and she did a breast cancer check and said keep an eye on it. The pain got worse and spread to my shoulder blade and down the back of my ribs. I was needing to take regular panadol for pain relief. Today I went back to the doctor and she said the most likely cause was a white tailed spider bite near my armpit. I had noticed four itchy bites there but thought it was really just a coincidence. It was good to know that it wasn't more serious or life threatening. The cure is some pills and a deep muscle back massage. Sounds good to me!

Mother's Day

Today I took Mum out for a nice lunch for Mother's Day at Smugglers Restaurant. The place was full of mothers being taken out for lunch!

After that we had a nice drive around Isel Park as the weather wasn't great. Even in autumn the park looks nice. You can see the nice possum fur scarf that I bought Mum for mother's day!

So as not to let Nana feel left out we visited her gravesite as well. I gave it a bit of a tidy-up but it looked quite rustic with the autumn leaves scattered about as well.

Ngarua Caves School Trip

Today we took the whole school to the Ngarua Caves on top of the Takaka Hill as a part of our study on local landforms. It was a fabulous day.

Here is the view from near the top of the hill looking eastwards over the Abel Tasman National Park and looking towards Nelson. Note the awesome rock formations weathered over thousands of years.
Children were in awe of the cave system and the impressed by millennia it takes to create the magnificent stalagmites and stalactites.

To leave the cave we had to ascend in to the daylight! Do you like my cool miner's helmet!!!

Video and Audio Clips

I (hopefully) have discovered a better quality way of putting video into my blog.

This is a 2.8MB Quicktime movie that will take a little bit of waiting for. To make it start click on the picture and a big Q should come on to the screen and then wait for the downlaod to start.

And one more thing..... A little sound byte about my Melbourne holiday. It is only small so you should be able to just click on the play button and hear my profound utterings.

Happy Birthday to me

Today was a birthday day. Everyone seems to ask if it is a birthday on particular importance. I must look a year older than I am. Sue, Gerogia's mum at school came in just before play with this lovely very delicous birthday cake. It was a very thoughtful thing to do and yummy as well. We all gathered around and sang, "Happy Birthday". I felt all warm and fuzzy.

Amber and Friends

It is hard to tell which of these friends is Amber, Rachel and Chong's baby girl. She is growing fast and her family is very pleased with her.
