Ngarua Caves School Trip

Today we took the whole school to the Ngarua Caves on top of the Takaka Hill as a part of our study on local landforms. It was a fabulous day.

Here is the view from near the top of the hill looking eastwards over the Abel Tasman National Park and looking towards Nelson. Note the awesome rock formations weathered over thousands of years.
Children were in awe of the cave system and the impressed by millennia it takes to create the magnificent stalagmites and stalactites.

To leave the cave we had to ascend in to the daylight! Do you like my cool miner's helmet!!!
