Mum reached the grand old age of eighty today- quite an achievement. She didn't want a great hullabaloo so Mac, Alan, Margaret, George and I all went out for tea at a nice nearby restaurant and then round to Margaret and George's for a cuppa and birthday cake. It was a very nice evening followed by lovely messages of birthday greetings from all round the world- Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Portsmouth, Blenheim, Christchurch, Wellington and Nelson. Thank you everyone- Mum was really happy with her birthday- it was a nice day for her.
