Chris has been holidaying over in Hawaii and he emailed me this photo from one of his adventures. At first I thought it had been Photoshoped because of the way Chris stands out from the monotones of the background. What an experience! Chris said...
" Our time in Hawaii is running out but we have made the most of our time. The picture is of stalagmites in a lava cave. The stalagmites are not limestone as we are used to but molten lava that has dripped from the ceiling. (The cave is cold now though.)
To get to the cave we had a 25km return walk. We did this over two days with somewhat heavy packs. We camped out the first night down by the surf near a number of coconut tress. We were on our own so it was quite special occasion for us. The cave was special too."
