This Sunday afternoon we thought we might go for a bit of a drive and picnic out to Cable Bay as there was supposed to be something on out that way. It turns out that it was a bike and kayak race. Unfortunately it was lunch time when we got there so apart from the view there was nothing else much happening- which wasn't entirely a bad thing.
On the way home we took a detour up to the old cemetery to visit with the ancestors.

This grave marks the resting place of 'Grandad'- Mum's grandfather. It was this gentleman that owned this house before Mum and Dad bought it. He was a bit of a character in his day and seems to be looked on fondly by his grand-daughter.
This headstone is for Martha Delany, the first pakeha girl born in Nelson in 1842. Martha was my great, great grandmother- Martha, Rose, Amy, Margaret, Judy (Allanah), Amy.
